Stockton opens new high school athletic complex

Construction has been completed on new courts, fields, and facilities at Franklin High School in Stockton.

The new Franklin High School Athletics Complex has been under construction since 2009 and was recently unveiled. News of such new facilities and their formal opening can be made known through a community with flyer printing.

Dr. Traci Miller, Interim Superintendent for the Stockton Unified School District said the new complex is a:

“dream that has finally become a reality.”

She expressed her excitement about the new facilities for not only the Franklin community but also for the greater Stockton Unified community.

The new Athletics Complex includes new fields for playing baseball, soccer, softball, and football. There are also new tennis and basketball courts as well as field and track runways. Other new features include a team room; a 400-meter track; new bleachers and scoreboards; and batting cages. Attendees at the Complex will benefit from a new entry plaza, concessions and ticket booths, restrooms, and new lighting structures.

Miller said that the new facility will be better able to bring the community together. She explained that sports such as football and school traditions bring people together and now the community has a facility of which they can be proud. She said that this facility will enable the community to truly honor the students and their dedication to team sports and the ensuing team camaraderie.
