Work is underway to repair the interactive water fountain at Weber Point in Stockton.
Although the water fountain is only opened from Memorial Day to Labor, it has not been working for several years. The fountain, which is inside the Weber Point Events Center, typically provides a variety of fog, spray, and vertical water plumes for the enjoyment of everyone, and relief from the heat during the summer months. It had been running for almost 20 years before it was shut down for two years for health reasons.
The repairs will include a modern pumping and filtration system that meets the standards of the Environmental Health Department of San Joaquin County. It is expected that the repairs will take six months to complete and that there will be water flowing through the fountain in time for the summer season.
Banner printing is often used to inform a community when such features are opened to the public.
The Weber Point Events Center is a year-round attraction in downtown Stockton that offers space for concerts, festivals, and other celebrations by the community. In addition to the water fountain, there is a play area for children, a covered picnic site, and a promenade for strolling and enjoying a panoramic view of the Delta.
There is also a stage with a fabric shade structure, onsite parking, and public parking near the Center.
