Mural and new playground open in Stockton

The new playground and updated basketball court are now opened at Dentoni Park in Stockton.

Features of the new playground, which was constructed in the existing areas in the park, include a nature theme in harmony with the canopy of lush oak trees that surround the site. Other items in the playground include a half-dozen climbers, slides, swings, and a sliding pole, among others. Local Print shops often assist in informing community members of such updates with Flyers and other printed materials.

The selection of the equipment was based on research from experts on early childhood development to determine how children interact and play with their caregivers. The equipment is designed for children between the ages of 2 and 12 and use 23 elements of social/emotional, cognitive, motor, and sensory skills.

The mural at the basketball court was painted by Jason Tetlak, a nationally acclaimed artist who is known for his artwork and murals in other cities such as Tuscaloosa, Las Vegas, Denver, and Texas. His work accentuates ordinary public spaces and makes them more interactive and interesting.

Carlos Villapudua, a member of the California State Assembly, advocated for and secured funding from the state in the amount of $250,000 for the new playground. This amount will also enable future enhancements to the park to be funded.
