The Victory Park Pool Renovation Project in Stockton will be holding a groundbreaking ceremony later this month.
Victory Park is on Pershing Avenue. The groundbreaking ceremony is open to the public and will be held in the tennis courts on the Picardy Drive side of the park near the former pool. Poster printing can be used to spread the word about such important events throughout a city.
The existing pool and pool house will be demolished as part of the project, and the current basketball courts will be relocated. A new mechanical building and office will be built, as well as a splashpad, a new pool deck, a new pool for recreational swimming, dedicated restrooms, and parking for staff.
Funding for the project was made possible by the city of Stockton, with additional funding from the state.
Councilmember Susan Lenz, who represents the district where the pool and park are located, said that for many years many members of the community have spoken of the good times they had swimming in the pool at Victory Park. She added that it has been missed since it closed over 10 years ago, so now was the time to celebrate this renewed excitement.
The groundbreaking will take place at 6:00 pm next Wednesday, October 23. The pool is expected to open next summer.
