What's Happening in Stockton, CA…

Fire station now re-opened in Stockton

Station No. 1 of the Stockton Fire Department is now operating and answering calls for service. The station is on South Fresno Avenue in Stockton.

The fire station has been closed for almost 12 years. Renovations and updates to the station have been completed so that it now has the same technology as the other 13 fire stations in the city.

The reopening of such facilities often provides an opportunity for local print shops to create informational materials about such municipal departments and their services, and how they benefit the community.

Rick Edwards, Fire Chief of Stockton, said that the re-opening of the fire station has added staff and is the first growth the Stockton Fire Department has seen in over 12 years. He added that opening this station enables some of the pressure to be relieved on other stations throughout the city, as each station had to increase the areas it covered to respond to emergencies in this area. Now that the fire station is back up and running, Edwards believes the department is better able to provide mutual aid assistance in the region and serve the community of Stockton.

Station No. 1 is between Charter Way and Eighth Street at the intersection of LaVita Drive and Fresno Avenue, which is just west of Interstate 5 and near the port of Stockton.
