An exhibition of the works of Wanda Sullivan was recently on display to the public at the Visual Arts Gallery at Santa Clara University.
Sullivan is the director of the Eichold Gallery and an Associate Professor of Art. Her paintings portray her vision of landscapes and express her concern for climate change and the impact it could have on the environment. She brings together a combination of color, light texture, and weather to provide an abstract expression of a scene that include vague elements of the landscape, such as the line of the horizon.
Many of her pieces also incorporate the motif of moths or butterflies. She noted that she finds these elements to be both beautiful and fragile, while at the same time symbolizing the role humanity can play in protecting the environment and the other creatures who call it home. A poster printing enterprise can produce poster prints of her work that can be sold to the public and will allow them to enjoy them in their own homes. These can help to raise money for the gallery, while at the same time bringing the creations of the artists to a wider audience.
The Visual Arts Gallery has been opened for more than 25 years, and is located at 500 El Camino Real Santa Clara. Anyone who would like to learn more about its upcoming exhibits is invited to contact it at 408-554-4594 or visit its website.
