Santa Clara to celebrate community

Santa Clara is set for an event that honors its community, as it makes its return in early October.

The 54th Annual Santa Clara Parade of Champions is a gathering that looks to put a spotlight on business leaders, youth organizations, veterans, cultural leaders, sports teams, civic leaders, and community groups.

The first parade was thrown in honor of the return of WWII soldiers in 1945. In 2019, the event returned after 24 years in hiatus. After the pandemic, frontline workers were added to the list of those celebrated at the parade.

In addition to the procession, attendees can enjoy a “Community Village” full of vendors, crafted items, food trucks, and a farmers’ market, as well as a concert and salsa dancing.

Between 8:00 am and 11:00 am, there will be a buffet-style breakfast at American Legion 419. The options include orange juice, bacon, French toast, sausages, pancakes, coffee, scrambled eggs, a fruit cocktail cup, and tea. Admission to this part of the day is $12. Tickets are found on SCPOC’s website.

Entry to all other portions of the showcase is free. Activities will be running from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Franklin Square. Events meant to serve as a community gathering like this one are often promoted/advertised with flyer printing. The parade always takes place on the first Saturday of October, which this year is October 7.
