Santa Clara library hosts comic con

Santa Clara residents are preparing to geek out at the Santa Clara City Library Comic Con. The event celebrates the culture and art surrounding comic book printing companies with panels, activities, and of course comic Books.

The convention will bring in a lot of Bay Area artists and collectors, and features panels on both current topics in the comic book culture, and tips on drawing comic book and manga-style art. Notable discussions include How to Build Your Own Costumes and Large Props, Women in Comics, From Story to Screen (a discussion of the importance of storyboarding when making animated films), and Cartooning 101. Presenters include Pixar artist Le Tang, professional cosplayer Lionel Lum, and writer and editor Branwyn Bigglestone.

Additionally, visitors can create crafts such as superhero buttons, cosplay armor rockets, and masks. Some competitions will also be held, such as a Lego building and a raffle. Tabletop and electronic game rooms will also be set up for people looking to play either pen and paper or video games. Illusive Comics and Tatsu Hobby will be present at the con, selling a variety of merchandise, comic Books, and hobby items.

The Santa Clara City Library Comic Con will be held on September 24 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Central Park Library, located at 2635 Homestead Rd. Admission is free to the public. Anyone interested in more information should visit the website.
