Santa Clara celebrates 27 years of quilting

This fall marks the 27th annual Pacific International Quilt Festival. This festival has in the past been popular, and hence the week of the festival has been declared ‘quilt week’ in Santa Clara.

Lectures will be given by an international lineup, covering topics such as the path to modern quilting and travel-inspired quilts. There are also workshops offered from both specific instructors and major sewing machine companies. Some of the brands represented include Viking, Brother, and Bernina.

There is an additional special event in two parts. The first part features a private collection of quilts dating back to the 1800s. The owner will explain their stories, and how these antique quilts inspire modern quilters to recreate them with modern fabrics. The second part is a game called Quilt-O, which is advertised as the kind of game that everyone wins, and strongly resembles Bingo.

The show will run from a Wednesday evening (available only to those with pre-ordered tickets) through a Sunday. There will be approximately 160 vendors offering items of all kinds related to quilting and sewing in general. The festival will be held in the Santa Clara Convention Center.

At events like this, vendors often keep Business Cards on hand, especially with a number of large sewing companies being represented. The show runs October 11 through 14, with October 10 being available only to preregistered attendees.
