Popular autumn symbol to be focus of local event

A symbol commonly associated with the fall season will be in the spotlight for an event in early October that Santa Clara residents are sure to enjoy.

The annual Glass Pumpkin Festival aims to give glass sculptors and artists a platform with which to sell some of their pieces. In this case, and in keeping with the time of year, the work offered will be in the shape of a pumpkin.

The glass is blown by hand by the artist or their team, making each piece a unique work of art. The items themselves can serve as decorations any time, so inspiration does not have to be limited to autumn.

Many of the makers selling during the festival are artists who work through the Bay Area Glass Institute, although some will be traveling from outside the local area. The prices, sizes, and colors of the pumpkins will vary between the makers, giving attendees plenty of options to pick from.

The venue for the market is the Santana Row Park, which is located inside of the city of San Jose. Attending the three-day event is free. Many experiences relating to a craft event are advertised through methods such as flyer printing.

The dates and times are October 4 between 3:00pm and 9:00pm, October 5 between 10:00am and 9:00pm, and October 6 between 10:00am and 5:00pm.
