Palo Alto Unified is one of the first school districts in the Bay Area to put forward a plan. The announcement was made by Superintendent Don Austin at a meeting, where he also presented a plan that hopes to bring back the sixth graders by March 1. Students from grades 7-12 will be able to return to school once Santa Clara County moves into the coronavirus restrictions’ red tier.
The announcement comes a few weeks after Superintendent Austin told parents it would be unlikely that students would return this year. At the meeting, he also said:
“It’s a model that gets students back so they can have some interaction. This will be a bridge and step toward getting teachers back on campus, some of our staff have not stepped foot on a campus since March last year.”
Not all of the students who expressed their desire to return to campus are expected to show up. Close to 58% of the parents in the region said that they want their kids to return. Promotional Products are often included in back-to-school offerings.
Block scheduling officials have been appointed to make sure the number of students on site is within a certain range.
