The Rolling Stones played there in August. The show got rave reviews, but it recently came to light that their tour manager, John Morrison, sent the venue’s management a letter complaining about some of the restrictions at the stadium. According to Morrison, the band was forced to put up with eleventh-hour changes, cancellation of a fireworks display, and other constraints.
In the letter, Morrison said:
“Do you not want touring shows anymore? The impression I and many others in the industry have, is your facility is getting so restrictive and dysfunctional, it’s no longer worth the effort to play there.”
Levi’s Stadium is managed by the 49ers. People will have noticed that flyer printing for the events show that they end at 10:00 pm on weeknights, and this restriction has forced many acts to look elsewhere. The stadium’s management defended its decision to cancel the pyrotechnics because they were not included in the show’s original application.
The stadium’s management has no choice but to enforce the 10:00 pm curfew. This is because of the city’s building and fire codes, although the management themselves find to these be restrictive. When the Rolling Stones played in August, they were one of the few bands allowed to go on for an extra hour.
