Artist with international recognition to lead class

A craftsman known in countries across the world will be teaching a lesson in late March over the course of several days. The events are sure to be entertaining for Santa Clara residents.

Joseph Cavalieri is an artist who works with glass, using techniques that can be traced back to the Medieval period. Cavalieri started as an art director for several magazines before discovering his passion. Since then, he has completed pieces for both public and private display, with clients as far and wide as Los Angeles, New York City, and Brazil. He has also displayed work in several museums and hosted 17 residencies.

Form, Fabricate and Frame will teach attendees the very same methods Cavalieri uses in order to create a unique work of stained glass. While many of the materials like the paints, lighting, glass, and tools will be provided, it is asked that everyone arrives with images they would like to use in their work. Some places where inspiration can be found are movies, fables, and Books. When finished, the glass panels will be lit using LEDs and framed. The size will be 12”x12”.

Cavalieri will also offer a lecture where he covers how artists should go about marketing themselves. Other lessons presented in a similar fashion will take place in the evening hours over the course of the class period.

The venue is the School of Visual Philosophy, located in San Jose. Flyer printing is commonly used in promotion of art lessons. The event will run starting at 10:00 am on March 23, and ending at 4:00 pm on March 27. Tickets can be purchased using Eventbrite, costing $625.
