Santa Ana residents looking for a show to enjoy in late April can visit a local venue for a combination of history and music.
Timeless Melodies: Broadway in the 1930s is a performance that features an array of tunes from the long-standing hit productions that took to the theaters during a difficult period in America’s history.
Larry Maurer is the historian for the Timeless Melodies Foundation for Education, Inc. He will provide a presentation throughout the show to aid the audience’s understanding of Broadway and how it functioned during The Great Depression. This period saw work from composers such as Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and George Gershwin. Performers will take the stage to add the element of song to the presentation as well.
Tickets are available to both members and non-members of the Bowers Museum. The venue within the museum’s grounds is the Norma Kershaw Auditorium. Those with a membership are given a discounted price for their tickets. This fee is $10, while the regular passes are $15. These tickets can be purchased on the Bowers Museum website, as well as at the venue on the date of the program. Donations can also be given to the museum, but this isn’t a requirement.
The performance will take place between 1:30pm and 3:00pm on Thursday, April 25. Flyer printing is a popular type of promotion for museums such as this.
