The 34th annual Fiesta Patrias street festival in Santa Ana, California was a whirlwind of activity and fun as more than 250,000 people came out to celebrate Mexico’s independence from Spain. It is Orange County’s biggest Hispanic Festival and was free of charge to attend.
A number of city streets were closed to vehicles and were packed with pedestrians, food stalls, vendors, rides, and cafes. Live music was heard on every corner as well, with non-stop music action. Calle Cuatro (Fourth Street) was the main street of activity and was filled to capacity with revelers, partiers, and families. The ever-popular parade with floats, marching bands, and other live music was celebrated by many.
Maps of the event were available online and could be downloaded and printed or sent to a printing company for single or multiple Copies. The locations for parking, vendors, and live entertainment were clearly marked out so that there would be no confusion for participants. The Fiestas Patrias festival is put on every year by the City of Santa Ana and MX Live Entertainment as a joint venture.
Fiestas Patrias commemorates the day when Father Hidalgo of Dolores, Mexico, called for the end of Spanish rule in Mexico. The holiday is always celebrated in and around September 16, or dieciséis de septiembre, the exact date that was declared as Mexico’s Independence Day back in 1825.
The street festival in Santa Ana is the largest celebration of Fiestas Patrias outside of Mexico. More than three-quarters of the city’s population is Latino in origin.Get a Free Quote for Copies
