Sweet event in San Francisco

An upcoming event in San Francisco promises to be sweet indeed.

The Hot Chocolate 15K/5K is on the schedule, inviting runners to enjoy some of the sights of San Francisco, get some exercise, and enjoy chocolate along the way. The race is expected to draw thousands of participants who will be looking forward to chocolate fondue and hot chocolate when they finish.

The race course starts and ends in Golden Gate Park, with much of the run taking place within the park limits, although part of the course leads south down Upper Great Highway. Runners will pass the attractions in Golden Gate Park and enjoy views of Ocean Beach and the Pacific. “Sweet Stations” will be set up at intervals along the course, where runners can grab a snack of chocolate and marshmallows for extra energy.

The Hot Chocolate run in San Francisco is one of a series held throughout the nation. They are arranged by the Hot Chocolate Run organization to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

The Hot Chocolate 15K/5K is set for Sunday, January 8. The 5K will start at 7:20 am, the 10K at 8:10 am, and the 15K at 8:10 am as well. An afterparty will award finishers with a mug that holds dippable snacks, fondue, and the hot chocolate that has given its name to the race. Using banner printing enables organizers of events like these to create course markers that are weather-resistant.
