San Francisco welcomes barbeque offering

A new barbeque restaurant opened recently in San Francisco, thanks to Ayesha Curry and Chef Michael Mina, who teamed up to open International Smoke.

Ayesha is married to Steph Curry, who plays in the NBA for the Golden State Warriors, and is a celebrity in her own right. She has a show on the Food Network, offers products from meal kits to cookware, and has published a cookbook. However, it was not until she bonded with Mina—over barbeque, no less—that she decided to take on the challenge of a restaurant.

International Smoke is on the ground floor of the Millennium Tower in San Francisco, where it has taken over the space formerly occupied by RN74, a high-end French bistro with an extensive wine list. Mina was also behind RN74 and says the restaurant was in the tower before the area began changing. The neighborhood today is younger, more tech-centric, and food experts think International Smoke might be a better fit than the French concept.

International Smoke has piles of firewood in its windows, and graffiti in many different languages on its walls, all to create a welcoming, casual place for family and friends to gather. Curry says there is something on the menu for everyone, including her husband, who is particularly fond of the grilled lobster.
