San Francisco to welcome Grammy winner in concert

An upcoming concert will feature two artists who will bring the Blues and pop music to San Francisco.

Elvis Costello & the Imposters, along with Charlie Sexton, are now on tour and will be stopping in the City by the Bay. Costello is a Londoner whose family was musical, enabling him to learn about all kinds of music, as well as the business itself. When he began his career, his start coincided with the beginning of the Punk rise in England. His styles expanded to include Tin Pan Alley, baroque pop, jazz, country, R&B, and classical music.

Costello dropped “My Aim is True,” his album debut, in 1977. Although there were no hit singles on the record, it does contain some of his best material. However, “This Year’s Model,” and “Armed Forces,” his next albums, eventually defined New Wave.

Among his honors, Costello can count two Grammys, an ASCAP Founders Award, a BAFTA Award, a Gemini Award, an MTV Video Music Award, four Edison Awards, two Ivor Novello Awards.

Charlie Sexton, who is on tour with Costello and frequently joins his shows, is an Austin, Texas, native. W.C. Clark, known as the “Godfather of Austin Blues,” taught Sexton to play guitar.

The concert is scheduled for June 17 at The Masonic in San Francisco. Organizers of shows like this often use poster printing to create suitable advertising for them.
