Eight-piece band to play San Francisco

A band that defies classification will perform in San Francisco soon.

Sammy Rae & The Friends are an eight-piece ensemble whose members come from a variety of backgrounds and musical genres. Meshed, the various influences have created a style that is unique. The sound is a blend of the genres that influenced Sammy, including jazz, soul, funk, folk, and classic rock, and contributions of the other members.

The band comprises keyboards, a horn section, a rhythm section, and two backup singers, and has performed in such venues as Le Poisson Rouge in New York City, and Schubas in Chicago. Sammy notes that the band members learn from each other as they play, and expresses how grateful group members are to have one another’s support.

Sammy dropped her debut EP, “The Good Life,” in 2018, and it took off. At the same time, the current lineup coalesced, and began selling out concerts. “Kick It To Me,” a single,” enjoyed more than 3.7 Spotify streams, and “The Feeling” and “Talk It Up” both got more than two millions streams.

Sammy notes:

“We want to make feel-good music that encourages people to insert themselves into the songs . . .”

A reviewer agrees:

“The band’s music is a beautiful jazz-pop-rock fusion with tinges of funk and soul thrown in.”

Sammy Rae & The Friends will be at The Chapel on Valencia Street on January 24 at 8.30 pm. Poster printing can be used to create stunning advertising for events like this.
