Emmylou Harris was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and “Gliding Bird,” her first album, dropped in 1969 when she was still developing her sound and finding her way into the industry. Since she was still growing into her artistry, the album was a mix of original songs heavily influenced by Joan Baez, and covers of songs by stars like Hank Williams and Bob Dylan. She began to attract attention with her reimagined version of “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again.”
Her next album, “Pieces of the Sky” made it to No. 7 on the US Country charts, and one of the tracks, “If I Could Only Win Your Love,” climbed to No. 4 on the singles chart. Although she was generating a lot of buzz, it wasn’t until she released “Elite Hotel” that she really broke through. Two singles from the album, “Together Again” and “Sweet Dreams” made it to the top spot, and the album itself went to the top of the Country chart. She has become a legend. A review says:
“Harris looked and sounded beautiful. Her voice was strong all the way through and a lot more powerful than you might realize.”
Emmylou Harris will be in Golden Gate Park on October 6. People organizing shows like this often choose to contact printers who can use poster printing to create advertising for them.
