Tame Impala is the brainchild of Kevin Parker, and is a music project for which he writes, performs, records, and produces all the music when he is in the studio. On tour, Tame Impala is a five-piece outfit with Parker on guitar and handling the vocals.
Parker first began working on the project in 2007 in Perth, at which time Tame Impala released EPs and singles before releasing “Innerspeaker,” their debut album, in 2010. Critics approved, and it went gold in Australia. In 2012, Parker released “Lonerism,” which was nominated for a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album. “Currents,” the group's third album, won ARIA Awards as Album of the Year and Best Rock Album.
A review of a Tame Impala concert says:
“ . . . Tame Impala put on an absolutely cosmic show . . . taking the audience on a visual and aural ride for the ages. Tame Impala [played] . . . a 10-minute blissful submersion into a musical word [sic] that is both tranquil and urgent.”
Tame Impala will appear at the Chase Center on 16th Street in San Francisco on September 21 at 7.30 pm. When bands come to a city, flyer printing is a good option to publicize these events.
