Kaleo (listed as KALEO) first got together in 2012 in Iceland, and have dropped three albums to date. “Kaleo” came out in 2013, as did their EP “Glasshouse,” followed by “A/B” in 2016, and then, 2021’s “Surface Sounds. “A/B” was a smash, selling over a million units worldwide. The album produced the song “Way Down We Go,” which made it to the No. 1 position on the Billboard Alternative Songs Chart, and in the U.S. was certified 2x Platinum. In addition, KALEO earned a 2017 Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance for their single “No Good.”
KALEO kicked off their career by appearing at the Iceland Airwaves music festival in 2012, where their sound proved popular. Their cover of "Vor í Vaglaskógi" got major airplay, and was used in “Trapped,” an Icelandic TV series. They were signed by Iceland’s major record label Sena, and released “Kaleo” on that label.
Their growing success brought them to the United States, where Atlantic Records signed them. They are now based in Austin, Texas.
A review says:
“This show was completely fabulous. . . . Kaleo . . . were . . . wonderful. Their skill is tight, dynamic, and intense. Everything I love in music.”
KALEO will be at The Majestic in San Francisco on June 23. When shows like this are planned, organizers often use poster printing to create advertisements for them.
