Heavy metal with Brazilian accent coming to San Diego
A heavy metal band formed in American by Brazilian brothers is set to appear in San Diego.
Cavalera Conspiracy formed in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2006 under the name Inflikted, with Brazilian brothers Igor and Max Cavalera as the founding members. The two were previously part of Sepultura, a heavy metal group. Joe Duplantier, a vocalist with the group Gojira and Marc Rizzo, Soulfly’s guitarist, along with the brothers, made up the original lineup. The addition of Duplantier and Rizzo added a thrash metal touch to the group.
In 2008, the group released “Inflikted,” their debut album, which they recorded in Los Angeles. The effort was successful in Germany, Finland, and Austria, which led the group to undertake a tour to support the album. They appeared in Spain, toured Europe extensively, and followed that with a tour of the United States. The lineup changed at this point, with Johny Chow replacing Duplantier.
The group’s second album, “Blunt Force Trauma,” appeared in 2011 and garnered positive reviews, charting in more than ten countries. Following this release, Chow left, replaced by bassist Tony Campos. The lineup changes seemed to strengthen the group, which dropped their third album, “Pandemonium,” in 2014. A concert review says:
Cavalera Conspiracy will appear at San Diego’s House of Blues on February 20. Shows like this are often advertised with posters, which organizers will find at print shops.
