Canadian singer/songwriter heads to San Diego
A Saskatchewan artist known for his narrative songs is coming to San Diego.
Colter Wall, who began his career recording demos while he was still in high school, blends western, folk, and country music into his own storytelling style. He sings:
He released his EP “Imaginary Appalachia” in 2015, and his debut album “Colter Wall” in 2017. He followed that with “Songs of the Plains,” in 2018, and “Western Swing & Waltzes and Other Punchy Songs” in 2020. “Little Songs,” his fourth album, came out in 2023.
His songs have been used in the films “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” and “Hell or High Water,” and on the TV show “Dog the Bounty Hunter.” Wall opened for Lucinda Williams in 2016, when she played Nashville’s legendary Ryman Auditorium. Rick Rubin’s American Songs publishing company signed him in 2016.
He cites rockers like Led Zeppelin, and AC/DC as early influences, then later he became interested in Blues and folk music, leading to his current style. A review says:
