July will soon be here and it will once again be time to celebrate our nation’s independence day. No one in Sacramento will want to miss the Arden Arcade’s 14th annual Spirit of Freedom 4th of July Parade. There is still time to register a float, bike, group, or vintage car.
Although no food, candy, or toys will be tossed from the floats, parade members will be able to pass them out to children along the route. Before getting any flyer printing done, parade participants will need to have them accepted by the parade committee.
The 1.4-mile parade route will start at the Department of Human Assistance building and proceed south on Fulton Avenue, go onto Cottage Way, then onto Bell Street, and end at Howe Park. To see the two-minute performances and/or display of each entry, parade goers need to find viewing spots near the corner of El Camino and Fulton.
After the parade, the park will host activities for the children, along with the awards ceremony. Trophies will be given for best of show youth, best auto or motorcycle, best of show, most spirited, most creative youth, best community group, and best decorated bicycle.
Participants need to check in at 2700, Fulton Avenue, Sacramento beginning at 9:00 am. The parade will start at 10:00 am and will run to approximately 1:00 pm.
