To end the Midtown Sacramento’s Sutter District’s third annual Sacratomato Week, the Sutter District and the Midtowm Business Association will be hosting the Sacratomato Festival. The festival will be outdoors and tomatoes will be very much the theme.
Centro Cocina Mexicana will be hosting a salsa-making competition that will be judged by a group of judges in a blind taste test. The winner will get bragging rights and his/her entry will be named ‘Best Salsa in the Sutter District’. Top local chefs will be giving cooking demonstrations. Guests can enjoy a tomato-tasting garden, while midtown bars and restaurants will be offering either free samples of their tomato specialties or larger portions for a small fee.
There will be lawn games for all ages and a Tomato Patch for the little ones. Kids can get their faces painted, receive balloon creatures, and participate in a grow-your-own tomato activity. KFBK’s Kitty O’Neal and her husband Kurt Spataro, the Executive Chef of Paragary Restaurant Group, will be heading their band Skyler’s Pool, while a salsa band called Conjunto Liberacion and Element Brass will be the event entertainment.
Pictures taken at the festival would make interesting additions to the city’s next year’s visitors’ guide Brochures.
The event will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Saturday, July 23 on the grounds of Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park, 1416 Ninth Street in Sacramento.
