Sacramento to host butchering competition

The Golden 1 Center in Sacramento will host the World Butchers' Challenge in September.

The event sees several teams create themed displays from meats like lamb, chicken, and beef. Competitors can differentiate their entries by using their own seasonings, marinades, and garnishes to create products that would sell in a retail setting.

This year’s competition will include teams such as the Butchers of America, The Butcher Wolfpack, and Craft Butchers of Ireland. A group of judges led by Todd Heller will decide the winning team. There will also be a World Champion Butcher Apprentice & Young Butcher contest held during the event for butchers under 35.

Businesses interested in sponsoring the butchers’ challenge can pay $4,000 to become a community partner. The package includes access to the event’s brand kit and a 30-second video for the sponsor created by the competition organizers. Companies may also become a gold partner for $7,500, which offers benefits like being mentioned during the challenge’s gala dinner and having the sponsor’s Logo Design displayed on the venue’s AV system.

The butchers’ contest will take place on Saturday, September 3 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. General admission for the competition will cost viewers $15.24. The World Butchers' Challenge Gala Dinner will be held on Sunday, September 4 from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm at the Memorial Auditorium.
