The Environmental Council of Sacramento (ECOS) will be hosting Sacramento Earth Day 2017. The theme for this year’s celebration will be Climate and Environmental Literacy.
About 150 eco-conscious businesses and community groups will be passing out Flyers and Brochures with practical information about sustainable and healthier ways of life. They will also be displaying their goods and services. Some of these will be the Sacramento Vegetarian Society, Sacramento Yoga Center, Hearts Works, and the Green Incubator.
Educational booths will have displays and interactive activities for the children. Local artists will be displaying and selling their works.
Live music will feature Fenix Drum and Dance Company (a West African group), Kirtan (a yoga lifestyle band), and Cat’s Meow (a Latin, blues, and swing ensemble). James Israel and Kindred Spirits will round out the lineup.
Plant-based food will be available for purchase. Some vendors will be Pure Life Juice, Mr. Pop’s Popcorn, Yolanda’s Tamales and Conscious Creamery. Festivalgoers are encouraged to take advantage of the bicycle valet parking.
Volunteers are still needed to help set up, coordinate, assist in passing out flyers, and man the water stations. They will also be on litter patrol and help to break down and clean up.
The celebration will be April 23 from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm at Southside Park, 2115 6th Street in Sacramento.
