Sacramento shows its love for cheese

Thousands of grilled cheese lovers are expected to be heading to the Sacramento Grilled Cheese Festival coming in mid-April. The two-day event will have area chefs cooking their cheese sandwich specialties.

The three-hour Saturday session is reserved for adults 21 and over. Admission will include unlimited grilled cheese sandwich bites and desserts. Local vintners and brewers will be there to offer their finest beverages. The treats and beverages will be grouped to offer the best taste combinations.

Free beverages will be served in special collectible glasses. Those given away at events such as this one usually have the event’s graphic design engraved or printed on the side.

Sunday’s event will be six hours long and open to all ages. Tickets will be for admission only. Sandwich bites about the size of a quarter of a slice of bread, sides, and beverages will be available for purchase. Guests are advised to bring cash or access the onsite ATM in order to keep the lines moving.

Kids under six years old can get in free, and the Kids’ Zone will have games, a bounce house, and face painting. The venue will have live entertainment and music.

Souvenirs will be available on both days. Everyone is encouraged to bring folding chairs, blankets, and water bottles.

Sacramento Grilled Cheese Festival will be April 13 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, and April 14 from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm at Southside Park, 2115 6th Street.
