To get the holiday season in gear, The Grand Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony and subsequently the opening night of the Theatre of Lights show will be coming in late November.
The Old Sacramento Waterfront will begin the season at 4:30 pm and its annual Grand Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin at 6:00 pm.
The opening of this year’s Theater of Lights Show will begin at 6:30 pm right after the tree lighting. Once again, K Street and the balconies along it will come alive with lights as the retelling of floods, fires, and parties associated with the 1850s struggle of Sacramento’s early years. The 20-minute production will close with the live-action retelling of Moore’s “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Jack Frost will appear and Saint Nick will light the 60-foot Christmas tree. Disney’s Goofy voice actor, Bill Farmer, will be narrating again this year.
The show will have performances on Thursday through Sunday evenings at 6:00 and again at 7:30 pm until December 22. The event will also take place on Monday, December 23 at 6:00 and 7:30 pm, and Christmas Eve at 6:00 pm.
Enterprising photographers at events such as this may decide to take their colorful pictures to nearby Stationery printers and have them made into holiday note cards.
The Tree Lighting and the opening night of the Theater of Lights Show will take place November 27 in downtown Old Sacramento.
