Sacramento hosts annual Black College Expo
This October, Sacramento State University will host its sixth Black College Expo, offering students direct access to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and other higher education institutions.
The event provides opportunities for attendees to receive on-the-spot admissions, explore scholarships, and connect with college representatives and employers.
High school juniors, seniors, and college transfer scholars are encouraged to bring transcripts and standardized test scores to maximize acceptance opportunities. Colleges will waive application fees for many participants, and scholarships will be awarded during the event. Students can also meet with companies offering internships and career guidance. Families and students of all ages are invited to attend.
The program features entertainment, cash prizes, and a “dance off” contest hosted by celebrity guests. Participants can access merchandise, including event-branded apparel.
Tickets are free for general attendees and groups of 15 or more, while a $10 donation option is available to support student resources and meals. Merchandise options include hoodies ranging from $55.05 to $92.29 and T-shirts priced at $28.35, all including applicable fees. Donations support the National College Resources Foundation.
Planners may find flyer printing to be an effective tool in attracting local interest and building support for events such as this one.
The expo will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 4 at the California State University, 6000 J St, Sacramento.
