Sacramento Master Singers will present its holiday concert “A Master Singers Christmas in mid-December.
Ralph Hughes, the singers’ conductor, has chosen traditional and new songs from around the world for the choir to present this year.
The evening will begin with a candlelight processional with music of Michael Praetorius – “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming” and a piece called “Mother of God the Virgin” by Sergey Khvoshchinsky. Among other choral works, the singers will perform Franz Biebl’s “Ave Maria” and Felix Bernard’s “Winter Wonderland.”
The program will be presented five times:
• Saturday, December 14th at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1300 N. Street, starting at 3:00 pm
• Sunday, December 15th at the Harris Center for the Arts, 10 College Parkway, Folsom at 7:00 pm
• Thursday, December 19 at 7:00 pm; Saturday, December 21 at 7:00 pm; and Sunday, December 22 at 3:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 2100 J Street.
Tickets will be $27 for adults, $22 for seniors and $12 for students. A dollar of each ticket will go toward a different charity each performance. Beneficiaries include Closing the Gap, Twin Lakes Food Bank, St. John’s Program for Real Change, WEAVE, and Summer House.
Patrons of groups like this, or those wishing to support local charities, sometimes arrange for flyer printing to be done to get the word out.
