Memorial Weekend is coming soon, and as in the last 43 years, the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society is again ready to present its Sacramento Music Festival.
The four-day festival will not be confined to its jazz, rock, blues and dance band roots, but will be branching out to include 12 new music genres.
Some new genres will be swing and Western swing, country, bluegrass, and rockabilly, Latin music, Cajun, and zydeco. Ragtime, early jazz, big band and orchestras, marching bands, youth bands, and banjo performances have also been added.
Over 70 artists and bands and 250 music acts in 14 venues are on the lineup. Guest artists will be Bob Draga, Danny Coots, Jason Wanner, and Banu Gibson. The Strolling Women’s Quartet and the Artful Codgers – a men’s strolling quartet – will be meandering through the crowd.
Concerts will be held in venues ranging from cozy venues with sitting for around 100 patrons, to an area that will hold up to 3,500 fans.
The parade will be Saturday morning and families can enjoy street vendors and car shows.
All music fans will want to have their Calendars clear this weekend (May 26 to 29) and visit various locations in Old Sacramento, including the Delta King Riverboat, Embassy Suite, Holiday Inn, Freeway Gardens, Golden Eagle, the Firehouse Courtyard, and the Turntable on the Green.
