Sacramento celebrates 15 years of annual parade

Sacramento will be celebrating the 4th of July with one of the most traditional types of 4th of July celebrations, the parade, and this year will make the

15th year for the Annual Arden Arcade Spirit of Freedom 4th of July Parade.

The parade will have floats, antique and classic cars, choir, band and other music marching units, trailers, pets and other animals. Although nothing may be thrown from the parade itself, Flyers, candy and coupons may be passed out by walkers. Floats will be judged and awards given in these categories, including most creative youth, best decorated bicycle, best of show youth, best auto/motorcycle, best of show, best community group and most spirited. Awards will be given out at the close of the parade.

The route will be about 1.4 miles beginning at the Department of Health and Human Services at 2700 Fulton Avenue. The parade will proceed down Fulton Avenue passed El Camino Avenue where the judging stand will be. It will eventually turn onto Cottage Way and then onto Bell Street where it will end in Howe Park, 2201 Cottage Way.

After the parade, everyone can stay and enjoy the vendor booths and the information booths that will be set up in the park. The parade will step-off at 10:00 am on July 4th here in Sacramento.
