Over 60,000 people are expected to attend the 29th Annual Chalk it Up! Festival over Labor Day Weekend. Volunteer artists will design and create chalk art drawings around the outside of Fremont Park.
Sidewalk chalk artists will be distinguishable by their festival tee shirts sporting the event’s Logo Design. Each chalk display will be done using the high-quality chalk pastels that were passed out to the artists beforehand. Professional pictures of each square will be put on the event’s website and available to the artists after the event.
Over 75 artists and artisans will have booths with locally created items such as clothing, jewelry and art for purchase. A variety of food trucks and small food vendors will be dishing up and serving healthy food snacks.
There will be quite an array of musical performances, over 25 in fact, scheduled over the three days. Girls Rock will start things off at 10:00 am on Saturday and Knock Knock will close. Jazz and Pacio will open on Sunday and La Tour will close. Emma Simpson & Xochitl open on Monday with Jonah Matranga bringing the event to an end. These performers will donate their time and talents to the success of the festival.
The festival will benefit Chalk it Up a non-profit that provides grants and art programs for the Sacramento region youth.
Chalk it Up! will run from August 31st through September 2nd at Fremont Park, 1515 Q Street.
