The Christmas season is just around the corner and Old Sacramento will be celebrating with Macy’s 8th annual Theatre of Lights.
This will be a light show rendition of Clement Clarke Moore’s poem ‘A Visit from St. Nicholas’, which might be better known to many as ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’.
The 20-minute production will be narrated by the voice of Bill Farmer, who viewers may recognize as the voice of Disney’s Goofy.
Guests will gather on K Street where the story unfolds on the balconies and facades of surrounding buildings. The program will begin with a retrospect of the 150-year history of the town and the old buildings. Sounds of floods, fires, and parties will engulf the area. The finale of the evening will be the live dramatization of Moore’s famous poem.
An old lamplighter, the reader, and Santa will be part of the performance. A fully lighted reindeer and sleigh will bring the Jolly Old Elf onto a nearby roof top. Jack Frost will make a special appearance too. Santa will end the evening by lighting the 58-foot Christmas tree.
The opening night will be November 23rd at 6:15 pm, and those who miss that night can see the performance at 6:15 and 7:45pm on any Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night until Christmas Eve, so plenty of potential dates to mark off in the winter Calendars.
