What's Happening in Sacramento, CA…

The third annual Hot Jazz Jubilee will kick off the end of summer with a four-day celebration.

Fun commences with a big parade headed by the Ophir Prison Band.The parade will also feature festive flappers in their boas, beads carrying brightly colored parasols, and anyone else who wishes to participate. Any banner printing for the parade needs to be done soon.

The night before the big parade, the ballroom will have a special pre-festival evening featuring Nolan Cyr and his band Trad Reputation. They will be followed by Bob Draga and Friends quartet. The $15 tickets will only be available at the door.

Bands performing at the Hot Jazz Jubilee this year will include High Sierra Jazz Band, Tom Rigney and Flambeau, Red Skunk Band, Hot City, 52nd Street Jazz Band, and Creole Syncopators With Carl Sonny Leyland.

The Ron Cunha Big Band will be presenting a two-hour set for dancing on the Saturday evening. Also on the schedule will be a special one-hour set of Songbirds and Crooners that will include a bevy of the evening’s ladies and gentlemen vocalists. Guest artists will be Bob Daga, Katie Cavera, Yve Evans, Eddie Erickson, Danny Coots, and Ken Hall.

This event will run from September 4 through 7 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 2001 Point West Way, Sacramento.
