The Responsive Classroom organization will be offering a workshop for teachers in July at the Westlake Charter School in Sacramento.
Responsive Classroom Institutes is a program that teaches educators how to create learning environments where students can thrive. The first lesson will go over topics for those who teach children in grades K-6, such as interactive learning structures, mapping out learning spaces, and engaging in energizers. Several Books are provided to participants in the course, including The First Six Weeks of School, Charlie and the Octopus, and The New Bird in Town.
The second program offered by Responsive Classroom is for teachers of kids in grades 5 to 8. The focus of the course is to design and implement middle school experiences that cater to the developmental strengths of students. Educators will learn about subjects such as creating safe and inclusive learning communities, holding responsive advisory meetings, and developing their teacher languages. The program will include the Building an Academic Community resource book.
The educator’s course will be held from Tuesday, July 19 to Friday, July 22. Each session in the classroom will last from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. The cost for teachers to take part in the program will be $859. Businesses that offer educational workshops such as this may use brochure printing to make helpful resources for participants to take home.
