The Environmental Council of Sacramento will once again be hosting Sacramento Earth Day this month.
The event will feature over 150 businesses and organizations exhibiting goods, services, and information that help sustain a healthy eco-friendly environment. More than 4,000 people are expected to attend this free and family-oriented event.
Live entertainment will include performances by the Danza Azteca Quetzalcoati-Citialli, the Kirtan Yoga Lifestyle Band, James Israel, the KTalon Band, and Fo’Shang’s Thang. All food vendors will sell plant-based foods that sustain both the earth and the consumer. Some of these will offer ethnic cuisine. There will also be gourmet popcorn, nondairy ice cream, and gluten-free bakery items.
Children can plant seeds in biodegradable pots, have their faces painted, and meet Sacramento Rivercats’ mascot Dinger in the Kids’ Activities area. The area will also offer educational exercises, a bean toss, and live animal displays.
Adults will get the chance to test drive several plugin electric vehicles. All participants will receive a food coupon.
Urban Sustainable Solutions will have stations scattered around the event to help attendees compost and recycle. The organization will be trying to get as close as possible to making the event be a zero waste event.
