What's Happening in Sacramento, CA…

For the 16th year, Access Sacramento will hold its short film production project, ‘A Place Called Sacramento’, in just a few days’ time.

This film festival is once again showcasing local producers’ and writers’ 10-minute scripts for local audiences to enjoy.

From February through May a series of script-writing classes and workshop wos held at the Coloma Center to help aspiring screenwriters and producers in perfecting their craft. Four Saturday workshops were also held by the Place Called Sacramento to help those interested in short form scriptwriting, production, acting, and makeup. Submissions had to be placed either online or at the Access Sacramento office in March.

The 10 script winners were announced back in April and they have been busily putting their scripts into productions for the festival. Plots include a birthday party that turns into a possible life and death situation, a look at the past and possible future glory of North Sacramento’s Del Paso area, a photographer’s reentrance into the “real” world, and a young boy’s adventure with a “magic” jacket.

Other plots include a homeless man’s journey, an actor’s turmoil with fiction and reality, a summer adventure that turns fearful for two brothers, a homeless woman who steals shoes, and two heirs who inherit opportunity and tragedy. These winners would certainly enjoy support from any fans who would arrange some flyer printing for them.

The films start at 1:00 pm this Sunday, October 4, at 4623 T. Street, Sacramento.
