To kick off the holidays this year, the Sacramento Children’s Chorus invites everyone to its upcoming On This Night-Holiday Concert. For almost 20 years, the SCC has initiated its performance season with an evening of music from its five children’s choruses.
Children audition and are assigned to one of five levels according to ability and age levels. The chorus includes more than 200 students ranging in age from 7–19. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to inspiring students to enjoy a lifelong love of music.
Its values are growth, commitment, joy, excellence, and harmony. Students entering the program at age seven begin learning about music through games and activities stressing singing, movement, and rhythm. As they progress from level to level, they learn melodic patterns and rhythms as well as concert etiquette and how to work as a group.
Their musical journey continues until they are 19 years old, where they join in with other to experiencing a four-to-eight-part cappella repertoire. Proud parents should not pass up the opportunity to get photos of their children for later postcard printing.
The event will be presented twice. The first will be December 6 at 7:30 pm at the Westminister Presbyterian Church at 1300 N Street, Sacramento. The second will be December 7 at 4:00 pm at Carmichael Seventh Day Adventist Church 4600 Winding Way.
