To celebrate the rite of spring, members of Sacramento’s arts community and anyone who enjoys a musical evening will soon get the opportunity to experience Sacramento Master Singers’ season finale, entitled ‘Songs for a Lifetime’.
This celebration of life will present music from life’s journey from birth and youth to marriage and old age.
Printing services have no doubt been busily turning out the program, which will include soul touching songs such as Henryson’s ‘The Eyes of a Child’, Barber’s ‘Sure on this Shining Night’, and k.d. lang’s ‘Constant Craving’. The chorale group will also be presenting music by the likes of Gershwin, Brunner, and Coldplay. The choir of around 40 members will be directed by Dr. Ralph Hughes.
Founded in 1982, this non-profit organization presents Sacramento with six to ten concerts a year. The chorale group has recorded five CDs, all of which are available on its website. Four of the CDs are holiday-themed and the other one, titled ‘Follow the Sun’, focusses on world music.
The performance this Saturday, May 17, will be at 8:00 pm, and the Sunday one will be at 3:00 pm. Both shows will be presented at the First United Methodist Church, Sacramento 21st and J Streets. Adult tickets will be $20 and seniors can enjoy the evening for $15. Student tickets will be $10.
