Two free virtual runs go online this weekend

COVID-19 means all running events have been canceled in our area until further notice, but runners can still participate in virtual runs being posted online.

This weekend, Personal Best Virtual 5K/10K/13.1 Riverside will be a free virtual running event, with online registration tomorrow, April 25, from 7:00 until 8:00 pm.

Participants in this style of racing can choose their own locations (like treadmills in living rooms) and set their own pace. Registration for this race includes a printable numbered bib, results put on website, and training tips. The website will also offer custom professionally designed running courses. Participants can receive free swag such as medals, runner goodies, shirts and headphones, or they can get the medals for $10 each and a $35 swag packet including all the free items.

Once the racer has registered and run the course, they must submit self-recorded times on the website.

A similar free run, Fight COVID-19 Virtual Race Riverside, will have a 5K, 10K and Half Marathon registration on the same day, during the same time as the Personal Best run. Medals will be $10, and a full packet of goodies will be available for $35. The packet will include a 20” foldable water carabiner, snack, a large medal, a customizable printable bib with a number, shirt with race-themed graphic design, headphones, and drawstring bag.
