At the end of this month, the City of Riverside will hold a two-hour parade to salute its veterans. This will be the 11th year for the Inland Empire’s Salute to Veterans Parade.
The parade will have over 120 entries, including marching bands, military vehicles and airplane fly-overs. Units of sailors, veterans, soldiers, marines, and airmen will be marching in review. The parade will also include bagpipes, dancers, antique cars, floats, and mounted horse units. This year’s Grand Marshall will be the highly decorated fighter pilot, Rear Admiral Allen E. ‘Boot’ Hill.
No doubt poster and flyer printing will be used to raise awareness of the fact that the Civil Air Patrol will again be offering a pancake breakfast before the parade. It will be available for everyone at the Riverside City College parade staging area. No tickets will be required.
The parade will step off at 10:00 am this Saturday, April 30, at the intersection of Ramona Drive and Magnolia Avenue in Downtown Riverside. The route will begin there and proceed to Market and 10th streets. From there, it will progress to the Historic County Riverside County Courthouse. The parade should be over by noon, and will be free to attend. Spectators are asked to park in the Riverside City College Parking Structure and proceed down to the lower parking lot.
