Riverside Runners run the river
Peppermint Ridge’s annual Run the River for the Ridge will be coming in mid-September. The run will have a 5K, a Half Marathon and a 1K Fun Run.
Runners finishing in the Half Marathon and in the 5K will receive participants’ medals and Tek shirts. Placement medals will go the top three male and female finishers. Fun Run finishers will receive a Love Run medal. The 5K and the Half Marathon will be timed but the 1K fun run will not. The Half Marathon will have a four-hour time limit.
This year the half marathon course has been altered to accommodate the construction going on in Riverside. The first leg will be an out and back six mile run to Van Buren Bridge. The second leg will be a 4.4-mile stint through the park, and the final 2.7 miles will be an out and back to the Hidden Valley’s east gate. Whenever fun runs are held, it's usual for people to cheer runners along the course with flags and banners.
Race participants may register either on line or at the venue before the race on race day. However, prices increase on race day. Registrants may choose one of three options. They can run as individuals, create a team or join an existing team.
The Run the River for the Ridge will be September 16th from 6:30 am until 12:00 pm at the Hidden Valley Nature Center, 11401 Arlington Avenue, Riverside.
