Riverside has two 5k runs lined up a week apart in September.
The first will be the 2019 RCC Athletics Finish on the 50 5K. This will be the kickoff event for the 2019-2010 Riverside City College athletic season. The race will begin and end on the college’s Wheelock Stadium’s 50-yard line.
Runners will receive T-Shirts, medals, snacks, free parking and admittance to the Home Opener football game following the race and post-race party. Top finishers will receive prizes. Runners will take off at 7:00 am.
With hardly time to catch a breath, runners can turn around and participate in the Run the River for the Ridge Half Marathon, 10k and 5k on the following Saturday, September 14th. This will be the final challenge of the Charity Challenge that began back in February.
This course will be ideal for first-timers as it will be in the medium to low difficulty level and will go beside the Santa Ana River on a paved path.
When runners complete their race, they will receive event medals. All participants will get Sport-Tek shirts sporting the event’s graphic design. Prizes will go to the winners in each age category and special gifts will go to the 5k and 10k overall female and male finishers.
The Run the River will be on Saturday, September 14th from 6:30 am until 11:00 am at Riverside’s Hidden Valley Nature Center 11401 Arlington Avenue.
