People in Riverside looking for something to do after the excitement of the holidays need look no further than the APCA Lunar New Year Festival.
This will be a family-friendly event that celebrates Asian Cultural Heritage in Southern California, with a parade and a whole host of other activities.
The festivities will begin with a parade of nations that features costumes and decorations of the Old Orient, combined with the new. That will be followed with an official opening ceremony and then a host of performances by dancers, singers, and martial artists.
Many booths will be displaying Asian cultural products and various demonstrations of Asian arts throughout the day. A Children’s Village and a Health Expo, and of course many vendors selling Asian cuisine, will also be on hand. Fireworks will cap off the day.
Those who plan to attend need to dress for the weather and may wish to bring their best camera for capturing some of the action for later use in poster printing.
The festival will be held Saturday, January 30, in downtown Riverside (at the corner of Mission Inn Ave. and Lemon St.) running from approximately 10:00 am until 7:00 pm. It is being hosted by the Asian Pacific Cultural Association. Admission is free, but attendees are advised to bring cash as vendors will be selling goods.
