Riverside celebrates Cinco de Mayo 2019

Cinco de Mayo is coming up, and celebrations are not necessarily confined to May 5.

The Janet Goeske Foundation and Senior Center will be having its Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on Friday, May 3rd from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. Guests will be treated to tacos and a live mariachi band. The Center is located at 5257 Sierra Street. The event will be free but registration is necessary.

The 112th Annual Cinco de Mayo Parade and Fiesta will return this year. The free two-day event will celebrate Mexican culture, cuisine, and traditions.

The parade will actually take place the day before Cinco de Mayo on May 4. Units will step off in Villegas Park at 10:00am. Units in parades such as this often get banner printing done as a way to introduce them to the spectators.

The fiesta will begin after the parade ends. Local bands will be performing and Ballet Folklorico and live Mariachi bands will also have performances. The band Truth will perform at 4:00 pm. Bajo Cero will be the featured band on the next day, also at 4:00 pm. The venue will have food vendors, games, and information booths where guests can learn about local resources.

The celebration will run from May 4 from 10:00am until 8:00pm, and May 5 from noon until 8:00pm at Villegas Park, 3091 Esperanza Street.
