Riverside music lovers may not be able to go to their local summer music festival this yeat, but can still go to Facebook or YouTube for the 18 performances of this year’s Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival.
Online events will begin Friday, July 10th with Giada Valenti’s PBS special “From Venice with Love.” July’s musical genres will include jazz, Scottish fold and traditional, bluegrass, and Broadway’s Gilbert and Sullivan.
On July 31, the musical mood will turn to classical music as a program entitled “The Cool Classics for Cello and Piano” will feature Frank Fetta and Rusian Biryukov.
August will begin with a Beach Boy tribute group, Sail On, and will continue with the Navy Band Southwest, Orchestral Chamber Works, a Romeo and Juliet ballet, and Ransom Wilson’s Classical Evening. A tribute to Memphis’s Sun Records recording artists, Rhythmic Circus and the Texas Tenors will round out the programs for the month.
September’s lineup will include Grammy award winning Mariachi Divas and a classical ensemble with rock overtones - Take 3 Trio.
The Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival will feature five young instrumental and vocal finalists who will vie for Associates of the Redlands Bowl scholarship awards in the Young Artists Concerto Competition. The date for this performance will be announced later in the summer.
Winners of competitions such as this usually have pictures taken when they receive the awards. These pictures are often taken to local Print shops for duplicates.
All programs will begin at 8:00 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays.
