The city of Riverside and many of its downtown establishments will be sponsoring an evening of entertainment, food, and drink this weekend at the 2014 Summer Street Jam.
The entertainment will be free and guests are invited to visit restaurants, eateries, and other shops around the downtown area during the intermission.
Three bands are scheduled to rock the evening. The opening group will be One Hundred Proof — a rock band that plays the music of the Allman Brothers, the Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Charlie Daniels and ZZ Top. Its five members sing and play rhythm guitar, bass guitar, drums, and percussion
Riverside’s own four-man rock group Shoppy will follow, performing its alternative rock, funk, and jazz. Slightly unusually for a rock group, the lead vocalist is drummer Chad ‘Mustard’ Vilarreal.
Going last and headlining the evening, Alien Ant Farm will be performing renditions of nu metal, alternative rock, pop punk, punk rock, and post grunge. Alien Ant Farm has released five studio albums and eight music videos, and is perhaps best known for the song ‘Movies’ and a cover of Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’. The evening should be a great action photo opportunity for later poster printing.
The concert will be held this Saturday, August 2, from 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm, on University Avenue between Lemon and Orange in Downtown Riverside. Each band will perform for approximately two hours.
